Blue and Gold Banquet

posted Jan 22, 2012 7:11 PM by Cubmaster 2011   [ updated Jan 22, 2012 7:16 PM ]

Let's get ready to celebrate! Boys Scouts of America is turning another year older.  This year our theme is American Heroes.  The boys and their siblings will have a chance to learn some fun facts about the greatest heroes our country has to offer.  We also want to highlight a few heroes that are relatives of our scouts. If you have someone in your family that is a war hero, distinguished public servant or a famous personality, we would like to have your scout share his/her story with the pack.  There is a question on the survey where you can tell us if you have someone you wish to have highlighted.

For dinner, we are asking each family to bring a main course or side dish to share.  We have a special challenge for the gourmet cooks in our pack; if you have a great traditional American dish, we would like to highlight them during dinner. The pack will provide salad and drinks.  For dessert, we are asking for "scout made" desserts (at least scout decorated).

When: Saturday, Feb 11th, 5-7 PM
Where: Benton County Quails Unlimited (same place as the Pinewood Derby)

Please complete the following form to let us know if you are attending:

Wreaths Across America - our chance to give back

posted Dec 6, 2011 7:17 PM by Cubmaster 2011   [ updated Dec 6, 2011 7:22 PM ]

Saturday, Dec. 10th at the Fayetteville National Cemetary, we have a unique opportunity to give back to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our great country.  We are one of the select few groups that are invited to place American Flags on the tombstones of American Veterans buried at the Fayetteville National Cemetary.  My entire family went two years ago and the service has become one our family's most cherished public services.  You cannot help but be moved by the number of heroes buried in the cemetary and the number of patriots there to show their respect.  Syblings are invited and encouraged to come.  Scouts must be in Class A uniforms.  We begin at 9am and should be finished by 11am.  The map and directions are listed on the calendar on the right side of our website.  I hope to see you there.....it will be special.

Yes, more camping is here!  But this time, it is every Pack in the District camping together.  Fall Cub Adventure is Oct. 7-9th and will have hundreds of scouts all camping at the same place.  If you are going to make one campout this year, this is the one.  I sent a note out to the Pack a few days ago and we will continue sending more information out on the campout, however, the District charges us for this event so we have to have everyone's commitment to camp by this Monday (Sept. 26th)  We will have more information at Monday's meeting but wanted to get another note out on this tonight.  If your scout goes to just the day events on Saturday, it is $15 per scout.  If you camp the night, it is $30 for the whole family.  There are a lot of activities during the day, a parachute show, a huge bonfire and much more.

Pack Fall Family Campout

Calling all campers!  Our first campout of the year is here. We are camping at Devil's Den State part on Sept 23-25th.  We will send out a full itenerary a couple of weeks before the event but we need to determine who is going to go now.  Devil's Den is a great camping experience with plenty of hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities available.  The only downsides to Devil's Den are; we are limited to 75 overnight campers and there are no kitchen facilities.  Therefore, you must register on the form below if you are going to camp overnight and it is first come first serve.  Second, we are going to need some volunteers to help with the cooking and activities.  It is a great experience for everyone so I hope to see you there.

Cub Scout Pack Makes Garden For Fallen Friend

posted Apr 21, 2011 8:10 PM by Cubmaster 2011

Reported by: Chelsea Edwards KNWA
Sunday, April 17 2011

A group of cub scouts spent their weekend creating a beautiful space for people to remember former troop member Jonathan Nelson.

Cub Scout Pack 121 started tearing up an old garden at Elm Tree Elementary School on Saturday, and by Sunday afternoon, it was transformed with new plants, soil, and benches.

"It's going to be a place that people can sit and remember Jonathan," said friend and pack member Michael Tullis. He and Jonathan were good friends, even after Jonathan moved to Pack 88.

"It's just nice to know that the support is there and he'll be remembered for a long time," said Jonathan's father, Nathan Nelson.

"It's good from a healing perspective for everybody. Especially the kids - they get to feel like they're a part of something to help Jonathan be remembered," he added.

The garden will be maintained by the fourth grade class at Elm Tree Elementary School.

Jonathan's family has set up Jonathan's Play Safe Organization. To find out more, visit their Facebook page by clicking here.
